The company initially gained fame from its mobile tower crane that was well-known for its ease of assembly and affordability. It was upon this invention that the company's foundation flourished under. Today, The Liebherr company has grown to become one of the top manufacturers in the world of construction machinery. The business has also gained the reputation of being the acknowledged provider of technically innovative user-oriented services and products in various fields. The company has currently become a "Group" working in every continent with over 130 companies and over 35,000 employees across the world.



To be able to ensure a manageable operating size, the Liebherr Group has been divided into various company units. These units have been designed to operate independently. This set up allows the business the ability to be flexible to market signals and stay in tune with global competition. What's more, having so many individual company units also ensures customer proximity and keeps customer service running at an optimum level.



Liebherr has instituted the divisional control companies to handle the management operations of production and sales for the individual product segments. The Liebherr Group now has 10 different product divisions.



The holding company of the Liebherr Group is Liebherr-International AG. Liebherr-International AG is located in Bulle, Switzerland and is operating by the Liebherr family members. Now, the family business is being managed in the 2nd generation by Dr. H.C. Willi Liebherr and his sister Dr. H.C. Isolde Liebherr. Ever since the year 2012, several of the active individual divisions have been represented by family members in the third generation such as: Stefanie Wohlfarth, Patricia Ruf, Sophie Albrecht and Jan Liebherr. These family members have been working hard together to be able to help set up the family business' course in the future. They are staying on top of large-scale industrial projects and residential buildings across the globe.



Hans Liebherr started to build his company in 1949, within a tiny town called Kirchdorf in southern Germany. Kirchdorf, now supports amongst Liebherr's 20 manufacturing locations. They employ more than 1400 people in that specific workforce and could average a yearly output of approximately 2800 wheeled excavators. The company has enjoyed immense growth and diversity ever since it initially opened its doors. The Liebherr Group continues to remain really dedicated to engineering and implementing innovative designs. They have earned a positive and successful place within the material handling business.
