Kinds of Aisles
Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to work in. Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, while Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn in the aisle. There are certain aisle widths to take into consideration with various units.
Very Narrow Aisle or VNA trucks work in less than 6 feet areas and usually utilize particular guidance systems such as optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel in the aisles. Some different models of VNA trucks comprise Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are popular kinds in compact retail spaces and in several warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks could work within aisles that are 8 feet to 10 feet. Generally these are stand-up units such as Reach Trucks. They are usually used in warehouses and storage facilities.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work in aisles that are more than 11 feet wide.
