Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries in 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" which was utilized to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism really impressed a lot of customers and therefore, the name was born.
Genie has moved into numerous new markets, because the need for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the demand for new machines to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in many new markets. Like for example, Genie went into making light towers, man-lifts, articulated booms, stick booms and telehandlers.
Genie decided to secure a partner who had the same values as a result of the economic downturn during the start of the 2000s, when they partnered with Terex. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers across the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the early years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Hence, all Genie equipment continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is dedicated to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also dedicated to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing exceptional support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machinery.
The Bi-Energy and DC machinery provided by Genie offers quiet operation, emission-free even in the most delicate work settings. Where the equipment must be driven significant distances, like for instance in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator together with the benefits of a 48V DC equipment.
Compared to any of the various kinds of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach overall. These machines are great for limited access areas in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These machines provide the drive speed and supreme traction you require to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
