Fuel Storage
In order to be secure, the smaller fuel canisters or the large refueling tank needs to be stored away from the main building or complex. Adding to the safety aspect, it is vital that "No Smoking" signs are prominently displayed in the area. Ideally, the fuel tanks must be stored in a secure enclosure that can only be accessible by authorized personnel. It is essential for the safety of the operator, and everyone they work with, that these safety regulations are strictly followed.

It is also necessary to always have a fire extinguisher present at the refueling station. In addition, anyone who is operating the fueling station should be trained and also should be trained to safely and effectively use the fire extinguisher. With regards to the fuel aspect, safety is of utmost importance.
Operator Training

The training also includes precautions involved for the refueling of any unit they could be driving and site-specific procedures.
Medical Treatment
Material Safety Data Sheet or MSDS must be situated in all facilities where forklifts are operating. This center would include the MSDSs for all chemicals and solvents which are used on site. This will also include the acid in the forklift battery, along with the propane that is utilized to refuel the unit.
The MSDSs sheets are required to be available to all personnel all the time. For instance, if an exposure incident occurs, the person has to be evaluated at once. If any medical attention is needed, to should be given without any delay. Normally, if you are uncertain if medical care is required, as a general rule; have a medical doctor examine the injury if you truly think it is severe. Always better to be safe than sorry.
