Forklift Accidents

Forklift accidents are often due to the careless operation of the forklift. This occurs when the forklift operator is not trained properly in safety procedures. Anyone operating a forklift needs to utilize caution to lessen the risk of mishaps and to be able to prevent possible dangers.

Forklift Accident Statistics:

OSHA, which is responsible for checking workplace safety, reports on the frequency of forklift mishaps. Typically, every three days somebody is killed in a forklift mishap in the US. Approximately 95,000 injuries take place in forklift related mishaps on a yearly basis. The vast majority of these accidents could have been prevented if correct safety measures had been followed. There are also internet sites committed to reporting stories of forklift accidents.

When there are mishaps related to forklifts, both the individual and the business will suffer. There are numerous reasons why employers should take steps to minimize the risk. Among the biggest reasons is to avoid risk of lawsuits if somebody is injured. Second, mishaps cut down on working time. Third, goods and property can be damaged during accidents. The majority of accidents are attributed to workers who are not trained. Employers are responsible for making sure that employees who are using the forklift are correctly trained in safety and risks. Never let anyone on a forklift who isn't properly trained to use the forklift. Your business must develop and post in a place that is visible all forklift safety procedures.

Instead of going through training because workers are required to, they should have a positive attitude in doing so. You as the employer should help staff know the importance of correct training. Let them understand that they could injure or kill not only themselves, but other people, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to make sure that all your staff undertake training seriously.
