Seat Belts for Counterbalances
A forklift, also referred to as a counterbalance, lifts loads as heavy as 30,000 pounds. Despite being sturdy and large, these industrial machinery still carry the possible risk of accident or crash. In order to be safe, be certain to have operators put on the right seat belt in the forklift and make sure that up to standard safety features are also on board. People know that seat belts could save lives in case of an accident.
Three-Point Seat Belt
The kinds of seat belts which can extend both across the upper body and over the lap are the three-point seat belts. These types of belts provide an extra safety degree by protecting your body. They are available in both bucket-seat and bench-seat types. The 3-point seat belts are offered in either non-retractable or retractable types.
Retractable seat belts are normally used in most modern vehicles on the market. Although non-retractable types increase safety, retractable styles provide much more comfort. It is not possible for a non-retractable seat belt to extend accidentally.
Lap belts
Two-point lap belts are ones that extend over the lower portion of the body. Most lap belts feature a push-button closure system and are non-retractable. In order to secure the seat belt, just press on the belt button and the two sides will separate.
Circuit-closed seat belt
The circuit-closed seat belts are the kind which force forklift operators to wear a seat belt. These kinds of seat belts have a micro-switch attached which sounds an alarm if an operator starts a vehicle and is unsecured by a seat belt. The circuit-closed seat belts are made in both non-retractable and retractable lap-band styles.
