Forklift Tire Specs
Since the year 1917, important tools used in industry and commercial businesses are forklifts. Throughout its history the forklift has evolved through various forms, from a simple tractor with an attached platform to a specialized high-tech machine. Forklift tires have also changed into specialized tires, with various kinds designed to meet particular applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
Solid polyurethane or rubber are the kinds of materials used to construct cushion tires. They are best for indoor applications on surfaces that are smooth. The tread of a cushion tire is pressed or binded onto the tire's steel ring. Cushion tires are rated for various load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are normally utilized within warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with foam or air. They are available in two types: radial or bias. Depending upon the use, they come with different sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires which are filled with foam maintain constant pressures and are less prone to punctures. Pneumatic tires are normally used outdoors on surfaces which are rough and uneven.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride which pneumatic tires provide together with the puncture resistance which solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are an alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are large rubber tires which could either be pneumatic, solid or foam. These types of tires are best for moving and loading heavy items onto trucks or into processing machines. Big flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts usually utilized at construction sites, auto recyclers and lumberyards.
