On a forklift, there are actually a variety of different ways that raise and lower the lifts, such as: scissors lifts, rack and pinion lifts, telescoping lifts, screw lifts and articulated lifts. The scissor lift uses crisscrossed folding supports with a screw system which draws the members together. Rack and pinion lifts utilize a pinion, which is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to lift the load. The telescoping lift system is made with many sections that extend and retract into and out of each other to attain lifting action. Screw lifts utilize threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts use a mechanism that involves many parts which unfold or articulate. An articulated lift example is the "cherry picker."
Forklift Material Handling
There are a lot of reasons to keep up with innovations in material handling methods. Material handling tools and the processes could be utilized to deal with increased geographical coverage, more SKUs, and the requirement to lower inventories. Machinery that are well ahead of the technological curve can help productivity maximization and increase profitability.
Forklift Battery & Charging Technology
The choice to convert from traditional, internal combustion lift trucks to electric forklifts is a smart one as the newest series of electric forklifts offer longer run-times and higher capacities than ever before. Charger and battery combinations are providing more power for a lot longer periods than older systems can achieve. Enhancements in both battery and charger technologies are not just making electric lift trucks more productive but they are making it possible to have more environmentally friendly warehouse operations.
These new batteries are known as Lithium-Ion Batteries or Li-ion batteries. This technology is still somewhat new, however Li-ion batteries show incredible promise. They are not only smaller but are capable of holding up to six times the charge of standard lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have very low maintenance requirements and can maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
