Skyjack Safety
A scissor lift is a particular kind of industrial machine that is used for "positioning personnel, their equipment and their tools," based on Skyjack. Anyone who is getting ready to use this particular type of equipment should familiarize themselves with the suggested safety and operational procedures recommended by the manufacturer to be able to stay safe before trying to operate this particular equipment. It could be devastating to any bystanders and the operator themselves resulting in serious injuries if the safety measures are not followed.
Area
In the best case scenario, the scissor lift would be operated on completely level ground. Prior to driving a scissor lift over a particular terrain, the area has to be inspected and cleared of any debris. To be able to lower the possibility of the scissor lift tipping over and probably causing the driver to fall from his seat. It is recommended to avoid holes or steep grades while operating. Bystanders must also remain aware and stay clear of the operating scissor lift so as to make certain that they do not get run over.
Inspection
Prior to attempting to operate a scissor lift, the user should carefully inspect all the integral parts of the equipment. The operator can see if all the components are working correctly before the task is initiated, a functional test is done while the lift is retracted. It is better to complete a daily check on this machine prior to the shift starting and several places even want an inspection to occur at the end of the shift too. Different companies have different rules in place to maintain safety.
Part of the inspection has to be checking over the tires. These components obviously add to the movability of the scissor lift and also provide the machinery with a solid foundation. A tire which is worn or faulty can blow and throw the operator from their location on top of scissor lift.
